Hai domo. Do you follow any virtual youtuber? Which ones do you like?

 No.21100

I don't obsessively follow any of them, but every once in a while I'll check Kizuna's channel and watch any videos that seem interesting. Recently started following Kaguya Luna too.

I watched a video or two of some of the other ones, but they didn't really seem as interesting…

I follow quite a few. I like Akari and Yua.

>>21101
There are a lot now. To a certain extent others existed before her anyway, but it's become a bit of a boom in Japanese youtube and NND ever since she got popular. With how popular she got and how quickly she got there it would have been pretty strange for it not to start a trend really.

Who is the one who uses the kashima/ranko avatar? i remember seeing one of her videos and liking it.

I only follow this one. I tried the others but I didn't like any of them and I had a different reason for each one. So far he almost feels like the only virtual youtuber that doesn't feel like some kind of bait in some way for a certain demographic, though I'm sure I can easily be proven wrong.

Luna scares me now. I want to get off the Luna train.

 No.21522

>>21521
shes super happy and genki whats scary about her?

 No.21531

None.

I used to watch a couple of videos by a youtuber who used 2D girls and text to speech. The video that propelled him to at least temporary fame was his commentary on ebola-chan. They were charming in a way but I stopped paying attention to it and moved on. He had big dreams to get a youtube partnership, monetize his videos and get enough money to animate his characters and such.

With that in mind, I simply can't watch these virtual youtubers as they are so obviously overproduced and backed by big companies that I just can't turn off my mind. I take it passion projects like the guy I mentioned suffered a lot from this. I'm a sucker for the underdog. Besides, how is it any different from normal youtubers outside the anime girl with a seiyuu part? I already avoid normal youtubers and other e-celeb stuff. Watching virtual youtubers is inconsistent with that. Which is ironic considering I used my time to watch the above mentioned youtuber, but it feels different when you know it's a someone creating and promoting his content on his own.

I wish I could enjoy this sort of stuff and not take everything so seriously. I'm already a hypocrite in so many ways. At this point, holding on to these points feels more like stubbornness rather than actually being faithful to whatever principles I claim to uphold.

Unless I'm mistaken, or there just happens to be another youtube guy that also used a 2D girl, TTS, and had a video about Ebolachan, that guy is behind Mirai Akari now so I don't think he's suffering very much at all.

I don't know what you mean by overproduced though. All they need is basic equipment, a TTS program/an amateur VA or your own アニメ声, and some editing. That's why they're becoming so common in the first place.

>>21531
That wasn't the original reason I disliked most virtual youtubers but it does factor into why I dislike them now. It feels a bit cold and corporate and just completely fake. It actually seems a bit unsettling like some people have finally cracked and figured out just what becomes a meme and what doesn't and they're using that. I know that's just tinfoil hat ranting though. Nojyaloli is the only one I like because he doesn't feel as fake and his commentary isn't too far on the weird side, not to me at least. Except for that kemonomimi nation stuff.
