Is this board just for cute otaku/2D media? Or is it for all otaku/2D media?
If it's the latter, this is the mecha thread.
What mecha shows are you watching? What model kits are you building?

I'm watching Gundam 0079 for the first time. The series differs a lot from the movie compilations. It feels very super roboty in comparison, with things like the Gundam hammer.

If this thread conflicts with the boards culture or themeing, I can delete it.

Giant robots are pretty cool, but I'm still new to the whole thing. I've seen the entire 0079 series, but that's the only one I finished so far.

Right now I'm in the middle of The 08th MS Team, and once I finish that, I think I will try Gundam Zeta.

>Zeta Gundam
You're in for one heck of a ride

What did you think of 08th and 0079?
Personally, I liked 08th MS Team a lot. I really like the mish mashy elements of the EZ8s, like that one where they replaced its head with a GMs.

One little thing I like about 0079 is that all the Zeon commanders refer to their mook subordinates by name. It's a little touch that goes a long way to humanising the enemy.

I didn't think much of 0079 (and Gundam in general) when I first started watching it, but by the end of the series I got so into it that I ended up rewatching the last few episodes several times. I love Kai, Sayla, and Char, and many of the other characters were great too.

Not completely sure how I feel about 08th MS Team yet, but it's interesting enough. The focus on average soldiers is nice for a change, it makes the characters somewhat more relatable. Also the occasional action scenes look amazing.

Kai is such a loveable goofball

I've noticed Gundam shows have a habit of spoiling everything in their next episode previews

I see you're close to the end.

I finished the 08th MS Team. I didn't enjoy it as much as 0079, but it was still good. The battles were beautifully animated, especially the last one with Norris Packard. The extra episode with Kiki and Michel hanging out together was nice too, though I wish they gave more conclusion to the other team members as well.

I think I'm going to watch a few other shorter OVAs first (like 0080 and 0083) before moving onto Zeta.

Also, what is up with the stuff in the background here. AMD K6 processor? I wonder if these are from the computers they used to make the show.

I finished 0079 a few weeks ago. It was really fun. I'm not sure I like it better than the movies though. They didn't have silly things like the Zakrello. The added character development was nice though.

0080 and 0083 both have beautiful animation, and 0080 feels almost like a natural deconstruction of Gundam as a business.

>just throw techno stuff in there. It's not like the gaijin will ever watch this.

I bet plenty of Japanese geeks would recognize some of those names.

Anyone here ever seen Fang of the Sun Dougram?
It's basically everything I could want in a mecha anime.

Finished! That was fun. I already loved the rx-78-2, but putting it together piece by piece kind of made me appreciate its design even more.
